Some questions I've been asked...
Why is graphic design so darned expensive?
Even at my reduced prices, some people balk at the prices of graphic design. The behind the scene processes in developing quality design can be very time consuming. For example, the end result of a simple logo design may look clean and sleek and may appear effortless, however, it may have taken many hours of research and revisions to achieve the final result. Even simple websites can be extremely time consuming.
Why are you inexpensive?
Most graphic design firms are charging between $65-$75 per hour for their services. I have low overhead costs and believe that people should have access to quality design services at a reasonable cost, therefore, I pass those savings along to my clients. I believe giving you a quality product at a fair price will encourage you to be a repeat customer and pass my name on to others.
What's up with the name "One Blue Pixel"?
That's a good question and one I get asked often. I liked the idea of the "one pixel" because it is the smallest yet most important aspect of what makes up the images on every computer monitor and television screen. In essence, it is the very building block that
creates the images you see every day. And "blue"... well, I just like blue! You can find more information on what a pixel is by clicking here.
I am interested in having a website designed, what do I do next?
First, we will set up an appointment to discuss your needs. In the meantime, you should formulate an idea of your expectations, for example, if you have photos you would like to use, what information you are trying to relay, etc. After the initial meeting, I will send you design proofs for editing. The same process would be involved in creating logos, brochures, etc.
Why pay for graphic design when I can do it myself or have the local paper design it?
The difference between good design and mediocre is clear. Take my own personal experience below. I had intended to run a small add in our local paper and designed the one on the left and sent it to them to run as is. The ad was redesigned without my consent or approval and the one on the right appeared in the paper instead.
